An introduction to various dog breeds

By Emery Tito

There are probably more number of dog breeds in the world than there are people in the United States! Fine, that was a little exaggeration, but only a very small one. There are indeed a large number of dog breeds in the world and each day more and more breeds are being recognized.

The increase in the number of breeds is not because new breeds are been discovered across the planet each day, but because of the large number of cross breeding programs. Not all resulting dogs from these programs are considered to be new breeds but there are some that stand up to the standards and are considered to be new dog breeds, and this is the tome when the number of these dogs starts increasing.

It is a well known fact that a dog is a man's best friend, so it should not come as a surprise that dog lover around the world decided to cross breed different breeds of dogs to come up with the perfect dog breed for them.

All this required a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of these breeders. The large number of breeds present today is the result of years of breeding programs from several different breeders.

One of the latest additions to the breed of dogs is the Puggle which is basically a cute cross breed of a Pug Father and Beagle mother. This is one those breeds which has made a name for itself in the eyes of the people and this is because of the fact that they have a cute, wrinkly face with large droopy ears and soulful eyes.

And just as with these Puggles, there are many new dog breeds which come into being on a regular basis. Some people believe that these cross bred dog breeds are better even than their pure bred parents as the cross breeds will have less chance of carrying the same genetic illnesses and diseases which the pure breeds carry in their genetic makeup.

If you want to have a dog as a pet and are confused by the sheer number of breeds present then the best way to decide is by narrowing down your options after taking into account what your requirements are. Following this methodology would help you to reject breeds that are not suited to your lifestyle and will help you to find the perfect soul mate.
